What is Constipation?

Constipation is a group of clinical symptom complex, not a disease.

Mainly refers to the frequency of bowel movements decreased, amount reduced, dry stool, bowel discharge hard. Must be combined with fecal traits, usually have difficulty in bowel discharge or not, discharge habits, to make judgment on constipation. If more than six months is Chronic Constipation.

What is Constipation.

Constipation happens when the bowel movements are difficult or less frequent. The frequency of bowel movements widely differentiates from person to person and can be caused by different health and diets. Some people may have bowel movements multiple times a day where as others may only have bowel movements a few times a week. If you don’t have a bowel movement for longer than three days, it is even harder to pass because the stool or feces become physically harder.

You are considered having constipation if you are sufferring from two or more of the following symproms for at least 3 months:


•Feel difficult during a bowel movement more than 25% of the time.
•More than 25% of the time stools hard.
•Feel incomplete evacuation more than 25% of the time
•Less than twice bowel movements in a week
